Residential Solar Whiz Whirlybirds

Fresh Ventilation is an authorised distributor of Solar Whiz ventilation products.

All residential Solar Whiz whirlybirds require a 300mm roof penetration. The dimensions of the fan housing are the same for each model (but the higher capacity models have larger solar panels).

  • RAF700

    The RAF700 will provide enough ventilation for a standard pitched home up to around 90 square meters.  It consumes 10 watts when running and produces less than 40dbA noise.

  • RAF900

    The RAF900 will provide enough ventilation for a standard pitched home up to around 150 square meters.  It consumes 10 watts when running and produces less than 40dbA noise.

  • RAF1400

    The RAF1400 will provide enough ventilation for a standard pitched home up to around 225 square meters.  It consumes 20 watts when running and produces less than 45dbA noise.

  • RAF2100

    The RAF2100 will provide enough ventilation for a standard pitched home up to around 300 square meters.  It consumes 35 watts when running and produces less than 50dbA noise.

Fixed Thermostat

Prevent heat loss during winter. The fixed thermostat is pre-set at 25 degrees Celsius. The fixed thermostat should be installed in the roof space. The Solar Whiz whirlybird will not run unless the roof space is above 25 degrees Celsius.

 

Adjustable Thermostat

Prevent heat loss during winter. The adjustable thermostat is settable from 10 to 30 degrees Celsius and has an On/Off switch. The adjustable thermostat can be installed in the roof space or on a wall in the house. The Solar Whiz whirlybird will not run unless the roof/house is above the selected temperature.

 

Constant Current Module (Mains Boosting)

Add night time operation to your solar powered Solar Whiz whirlybird. The constant current module will utilise any available solar power, before topping up any deficiencies with mains power. In addition to night time operation, this module also means that the Solar Whiz whirlybird will not reduce its speed on cloudy days.

The constant current module includes a 24V power pack. We recommend that you purchase an adjustable thermostat too so that the Solar Whiz whirlybird can be switched off when not required.

 

24V Power Pack

The 24V power pack is required to run a mains powered Solar Whiz whirlybird. It can also be used to modify an existing solar powered Solar Whiz into a mains powered Solar Whiz.

 

Bush Fire Rated Eave Vents

Maximise the efficiency of your Solar Whiz whirlybird by allowing replacement air to freely enter the roof space. Bush fire rated eave vents are unobtrusive and easy to install. They are covered in white powder coating.

We recommend four to six eave vents per Solar Whiz whirlybird for maximum roof space ventilation.

 

Roof Cowls with Flashing

Not all houses have eaves (or they may be inaccessible or contain asbestos). In any of these instances, roof cowls are a suitable alternative. Roof cowls require a 150mm roof penetration and come with the required flashing.

We recommend two roof cowls per Solar Whiz whirlybird for maximum roof space ventilation.

 

Ceiling Vents

Maximise the efficiency of your Solar Whiz whirlybird by allowing replacement air to freely enter the roof space. Ceiling vents require a 288mm cut-out in the ceiling. They can be installed passively (without ducting) or connected directly (via 200mm flexible duct) to the Solar Whiz whirlybird. Ceiling vents can be closed during winter to prevent heat loss.

We recommend four passive ceiling vents per Solar Whiz whirlybird for maximum roof space ventilation.

We recommend one to four ducted ceiling vents per Solar Whiz whirlybird for maximum living space ventilation.

 

Bush Fire Rated Mesh

In bush fire prone areas, Solar Whiz whirlybirds should be bush fire rated. Standard Solar Whiz whirlybirds contain 4mm spaced mesh to prevent rodents and insects from entering the roof space. Upgraded bush fire rated mesh is 2mm spaced and stainless steel.
